“SHOWSTOPPERS”
350 PAL youngsters from all five boroughs of New York City compete in a city-wide tournament and fun-filled day of dance and stepping at the Police Athletic League’s annual Showstoppers event. PAL youth showcase their talent with choreographed dances, step routines, props, and costumes. Champions, in grades 1st through 8th, compete within age groups in each category.

The annual PAL event is designed to foster a better understanding and create relationships by bringing together boys and girls of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds. The 2019 dance theme PAL-Chella demonstrates each center’s version of Homecoming inspired by school spirit.
New York City’s Police Athletic League is the first and finest civilian-run PAL in the country. Founded in 1914, PAL has served the city’s young people for over 100 years. PAL provides recreational, educational, cultural and social activities to 30,000 boys and girls annually. It is also the city’s largest, independent, nonprofit youth organization.
