Celebrating quality after school programs at PAL

This year’s Lights On After School celebration was most successful! On October 28, centers and programs around the city held events to create awareness for quality after school programs. The Duncan Center in Manhattan held its Annual Outdoor Art Gallery for Lights On After School. Artwork included: pottery, quilting, partner paintings, self-portraits and a banner.

At PS 13 in Staten Island, participants designed their own individual quilt patch to create a joint PAL quilt. Their theme was "The Best Friend a Kid can have” focusing on friendships and their PAL bond. This was to show how participants at PS 13 are all unique and because of PAL, all can come together as one.

PAL after school participants at the New South Bronx Center celebrated Lights On After School with a parade through the South Bronx!

Our passionate young people created posters and banners and chanted about the importance of after school programs. Thank you to our staff for helping our young people spread the word about the importance of quality after school programs.
