PAL has a long history of playing sports with the NYPD and our youth. On Saturday, March 26, our young people and members of the NYPD came together for the First Annual Detectives Mora and Rivera Memorial Classic at the Polo Grounds in Manhattan.
This event featured three basketball games and PAL participants from around the city plus a game between NYPD’s PSA 6 and 32nd Precinct. Sponsors Origin North Collection and Fidelis Care also joined this community event. PAL would also like to thank some special guests who supported this event: Assemblyman Al Taylor, Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, Deputy Manhattan Borough President Keisha Sutton-James, New York City Mayor's Office of Criminal Justice and Congress member Adriano Espaillat.
Alisa M. Pratt, PAL Field Director for Community Center Sites: “The entire event from middle school high school to NYPD – the event was AMAZING! Everyone came together for the cause. We honored Mora and Rivera and bring awareness to gun violence here and around the world. It must stop.”
“Amazing job by the staff – Rasheed and Maria - to bring up the idea. Everybody was happy. We did this for the community, especially being locked down for two years. This was a ‘One PAL’ moment with everyone coming together.”
